Angelina Jolie Voight (June 4, 1975), born in Los Angeles, California, has appeared in many award winning Hollywood films. Her movies have bought her international fame. Her breakout movie was Girl, Interrupted (1999), which brought Jolie her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has continued to take on a variety of interesting roles, such as an adventurer in the Lara Croft films, a FBI profiler in Taking Lives (2004), an assassin in Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), and a neglected, troubled socialite wife in The Good Shepherd (2006), and a mother looking for her lost child in Changeling(2008).
She is currently married to Bradd Pitt, and together they raise three adopted children, and two biological children. She is an active human rights activist and has been awarded the Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency for her advocacy and work in obtaining aid for refugees in many countries including Cambodia, Darfur and Jordan and the Global Humanitarian Action Award (United Nation Association of the USA) for her role as an ongoing activist for refugee rights. In her 2007 film Mighty Heart, her character’s husband is kidnapped in Pakistan. The story revolves around the politics and the solution of what happened, including Indian spies, the CIA, and much conspiracy. Much of Mighty Heart was filmed in Pune, India, about 100 miles from Mumbai. Angelina spent a month (Oct. 5, 2006 – Nov) in India to film, and she and her husband Brad Pitt were the center of much media attention in India.
