As the seventh largest producer of wool in the world, India contributes nearly 3 percent of the overall global production. In 2007, the international textile market showing a growth rate of 3 percent for the period 2003 to 2007. Wool yarn sales accounted for 5.8 percent of the global textile market that year.
The export of wool and wool-blended products has been growing at a rate of 7 percent over the last five years. The American and the EU makets are key export destinations for these products. The wool textile industry in India is forecasted to grow a rate of approximately 4 percent between 2007 and 2012
