Resolving Business Issues in India

Doing Business in India Guide > Resolving Business Issues in India

Problems and issues arise in any business, no matter how carefully we have set up things in order to prevent such crises from taking place.  If you find yourself facing these obstacles in India, understand that though the country offers plenty of advantages, when it comes to resolving business issues, India may not have the best facilities or systems set up for this.

Unlike its western counterparts, who have courts and judiciary systems that are set up to expedite the resolution of business issues, India’s courts are generally slow to take action.  In the U.S. for example, companies can be sure to expect that when there are business disputes, lawsuits automatically follow.  In India, such is not the case.  In the event of business disagreements, companies cannot expect expedient action, nor can they count on a speedy resolution.

The legal system in India is not as helpful in resolving business disputes as they are in most western countries.  Businesses who have had experience in this know that cases in Indian courts can drag on for months and even years without the proper resolution, if at all.

Thus, without this legal safety net, it is generally advised for all companies who want to take advantage of India’s other generous business features, to make sure that they set up solid, trustworthy relationships with other businesses and firms in order to avoid disputes, and thus the hassle of having to slog your way through the sluggish Indian legal system just to resolve what can be avoided in the first place.
