India is fast emerging as a global manufacturing hub with a large number of multinational companies shifting their manufacturing base to the country.

According to a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), India was ranked number nine in manufacturing output producer list in 2009. It surpassed Canada, Brazil and Mexico to move up from the 12th place which it held in 2008.
