Research and Development

Atul has served for over 25 years as a Senior Director in R&D and Manufacturing, and in various other senior positions in marketing and sales at Hewlett Packard Company and Agilent Technologies’ semiconductor and instrument groups. He was the founder and president of Colorado Superconductor, and served with Tinicum, LLC’s investment banking division. Atul is authored several papers and has over thirty patents in camera chips, photolithography, semiconductor test, sensors and transducers, liquid metal switches, and molecular biology devices. After graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur Dr. Goel received MS and PhD degrees from Yale University in Biochemistry and Applied Physics.

Over the last decade, Atul has pioneered and led a process to streamline and accelerate technology and product development at HP and Agilent through third party collaborations and technology sourcing. He has established and managed large product development and manufacturing organizations in the US, Germany, Japan, China and India. Atul serves on the advisory boards of several technology companies in the biomedical and energy industries, and the Association of Yale Alumni Board of Governors. He is an executive advisor to the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute.

Senior Advisor: Arvind Agarwal
Chemical Industry

Arvind has over 30 years of Chemical Industry experience including two decades as the head of two separate "Synthetic Chemical" companies. He also has over 25 years of experience in Indian financial markets.

Arvind has a Masters in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and another Masters in Chemistry from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Software Development

Over a 14-year career at Sun Microsystems, Dr. Avinash Agrawal’s responsibilities spanned global engineering, business services , data center management software and more. Avinash founded and served as the Managing Director for Sun Microsystems's India Engineering Center in Bangalore. Since he opened the IEC in 1999, the facility contributed more than 160 patent disclosures and eight major product releases to the Sun portfolio. Avinash led the transition of multiple large products to the India Engineering Center, and its evolution into Sun's top international engineering facility, by designing the IEC infrastructure and business model, and recruiting the very best local talent.

Earlier in his career, Avinash held technical and management roles at Teknekron Communication Systems and at Tymshare. He also founded Jupiter 2x(Learning). Avinash holds a Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has taught Strategic Offshoring at Stanford University. Avinash advises Amritt clients about global engineering issues.

Consumer Goods

Debu has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur followed by an MBA in Marketing from IIM Kolkata. He gained his initial experience at Hindustan Unilever where he spent 14 years in Sales and Marketing. After Unilever, Debu moved on to CEO roles in Benckiser, RPG Group and ICI Paints. Debu then spent 7 years with Hemas, Sri Lanka as Managing Director for their FMCG Business. After returning to India, Debu was the Managing Director for Bajaj Corp.

India Operations

Dinesh Lal is a mechanical engineer with bachelor's and master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has over 30 years industry experience with top Indian engineering companies including Larsen & Toubro as well as leading American companies including Eaton and Kohler. He held leadership positions with each of these companies. For Kohler, he established their presence in India and built up their operations.

Dinesh leads our India consultants, who provide in-country guidance to Amritt clients visiting India. Amritt's India business experts can interview executive candidate hires, pre-qualify business potential business partners, perform due diligence on merger and acquisition targets and other perform other top level guidance. Dinesh is based in India and travels to the United States frequently.

Retired Major General Indra Shekhar Chaturvedi’s most recent role was spearheading the acquisitions of weapons and equipment for the Indian Army in the Acquisition Wing of India’s Ministry of Defence. He significantly contributed to the formulation of the policies and procedures for Indian Defence Procurement and in negotiating various aspects of global and domestic defence acquisition schemes.

His last border posting was as a Brigadier in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan on the Pakistan border where he commanded an artillery brigade of a strike formation in 2002-2003. In a later role, he led manpower planning for the 1.3 million strong all-volunteer Army, including managing hiring targets, cadre managemnt, and manpower development.

General Chaturvedi, is a 1971 graduate of India’s National Defence Academy in Pune. Later in his career he graduated from the National Defence College in New Delhi from a special course designed to equip top select officers to take on the most senior military leadership roles in India. For his leadership and training skills in the classroom and the field, General Chaturvedi has long been recognized by the All India Management Association.

Moving to India in 2001, John was country manager of Parsons Brinckerhoff and helped build the Delhi commuter train system. Among his responsibilities for seven years in New Delhi was overall management and supervision of the architectural design of stations, track, parking facilities, transit centers and systems( including traction power, communications, and fare collection). An engineer by education, John advises Amritt clients in engineering and construction industries and related fields.

Global Retail

Mark’s senior retail experience includes 8 years in the corporate headquarters of the world’s largest retailer, Wal-mart. More recently, based in Mumbai, India, as vice-president of corporate private label packaging, he managed the launch of eight separate categories at Reliance Retail Ltd. Mark was educated at Oklahoma State University. Mark advises Amritt clients on retail and consumer goods marketing to India.

Paula has lived as an expatriate in several countries and is an expert at helping North American business visitors translate Indian cultural and corporate practices.

As an Air Vice Marshal for the Indian Air Force, Rajinder K. Mohan’s final assignment was “Air Officer in charge Logistics” (AOL); the AOL is the top executive responsible for the supply chain of materials and spares. This includes forecasting, provisioning, procurement from global sources, receipt in India, warehousing and storage. The AOL is also responsible for distribution and supply to various field Units spread across the country both during peace and wartime. Mohan served in uniform for 36 years and was decorated with the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for distinguished service of an exceptional order.

Rodney Shean served as the Vice President of Support Services for a large global Video Games Publisher, in his last corporate role. He was responsible for overseeing a headcount of hundreds and spanning all Internal and External support, documentation, sound and video, and quality assurance and in this role, he often hired business consultants and experts from the outside. Rod now brings his corporate perspective to the rest of our team of India consultants.

Earlier in his career, Rod worked as a professional teacher and instructor for over 5 years teaching for both the US Air Force and private computer companies. He has been a project manager and consultant for several software and hardware projects supporting local and international groups. Rod is based in Tennessee.

Aerospace and Defense

In his most recent corporate position, Russ Turner was the President of the Honeywell Engines, Systems, and Services business and the Honeywell Air Transport and Regional business. Before joining Honeywell, Turner was the president and CEO of United Space Alliance (USA) where he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Space Shuttle and elements of the International Space Station, under the Space Flight Operations Contract.

Earlier in his career he held senior positions at Rocketdyne and as vice president and general manager of Reusable Space Systems for The Boeing Company in Downey, California. Russ advises Amritt’s clients in the aerospace, defense, and civil aviation business.

Supriya Pande, spent four years as a manager at Microsoft Corporation handling complex web sites, content and related media in her last corporate role. She previously worked in technology and media management positions at AT&T and at Ziff Davis.

Other India business experts often turn to Supriya for her cross-cultural tact and expertise in ferreting out the communication challenges between India and West.

Smita has over 20 years of experience in Healthcare, Entertainment, Software Development and Service industries. Smita's prior work experience includes well known companies such as Amgen, UnitedHealth Group, PacifiCare, UCLA Medical Center, as well as Alpha Therapeutics, Retix and Amber.

Smita is a seasoned executive in managing multimillion dollar initiatives global offshore development through cross cultural barriers across multiple cultures including India, China, Ireland, Germany, Latvia, and Switzerland.

Smita has Masters in Computer Science from Indian Institutes of Technology, India. Smita's papers on 3-D modeling and Image processing have appeared in IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications and in the World Symposium of AI and Pathology.

Ujj Nath is the Managing Director at Amritt Capital LLC., which is an M&A consulting firm that specializes in cross - border transactions with India and the USA. He is currently on the board of USourceIT, FreshiFlix, TruAlign LLC.

Ujj has 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive, largely garnered as the President, CEO and Co-Founder of Syncata Corporation, a business consulting, and demand and supply chain management solutions firm with a 15-year track record serving the automotive industry. As part of the growth of the company Ujj raised significant growth capital from JP Morgan Chase Capital and ABS Capital. Ujj also successfully negotiated the sale of his company to ProQuest a public company (NYSE: PQE) in 2004, which was then acquired by Snap-On Tools (NYSE:SNA) in 2005.

At Snap-On, Ujj was the Regional Vice President with Snap-on Business Solutions in their Global Accounts organization and headed the Professional Services Organization for Snap-on Business Solutions. Prior to co-founding Syncata, Ujj worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert as an associate where he specialized in quantitative modeling and research for the corporate finance and logistics department. Ujj has a Masters in Business Administration from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and a BS in Metallurgy from the Institute of Technology B.H.U. in Varanasi, India.

Managing Director: Gunjan Bagla

Gunjan Bagla has 25 years of global sourcing and marketing experience. He has held senior positions in global technology sales and marketing. Mr. Bagla has managed teams sourcing products from China, India, Japan, and the rest of Asia. He began his career as an engineer for Larsen & Toubro Bangalore, a prominent Indian industrial firm. Mr. Bagla came to the U.S. and later worked as Director of Program Management for Tandon Computer.
