Industry:  Automotive

In 1996, GM India launched its first car model, the Opel Astra in 1996. Since then the company has launched a variety of cars like the Opel Corsa, Corsa Swing, and Corsa Sail. FM has been successful in India because it has a parent company that had a long-term view on India’s market. Other factors that led to its success are the high level of localization, variety of products, and large dealer network. India is a supplier base and a R&D center for GM. The R&D focuses on math based tools, automotive electronics and control systems, lightweight materials and stout manufacturing process, and manufacturing enterprise and management science.
