Benefits of Business in India

Doing Business in India Guide > Benefits of Business in India

India is quickly developing a growing economy that attracts plenty of businesses – and with good reason.  Choosing India to set up shop in has plenty of benefits that are not available in other countries.

For one, India offers great tax benefits that cannot be matched anywhere else in the world.  Companies that set up their businesses in Special Economic Zones or SEZs, which is considered foreign territory for the purposes of trade, enjoy tax-free income, which include various direct and indirect taxes like value added tax, income tax, excise tax and the like.  This ultimately amounts to greater savings for foreign companies.

For Americans, one significant benefit is the 9 – 12 hour difference in time zones.  This means that the dual workforce in these two countries operate at different shifts, which allows the work to continue seamlessly.  As one set of workers end their day, the other is just starting, allowing one team to pass off the work to the other without breaking pace.

India also boasts of a well-educated, English speaking labor force.  Most of the employable population of India are professionals and degree holders in their respective fields.  What’s more, they are able to communicate in the English language, allowing many businesses to confidently start operations in the country without the trouble of finding a competent staff.

Most of the Indian work force is also young.  54% of the Indian population is under the age of 25, which, presumably makes them more adaptable to changes and are therefore ideal for foreign businesses that need workers that can adapt to their system.
