Rajasthan is one of the largest states in India. It lies towards the northwest of the country. It is bordered by Pakistan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. The official language of the state is Rajasthani which is a dialect of Hindi. Hindi is also widely used in the state. Other languages heard here are Sindhi, Gujarati, and Punjabi. The capital city is Jaipur and it is also the largest city in Rajasthan. The state has 33 districts, 222 towns, and a literacy rate of 61.03%. Famous national parks include the Ranthambore National Park, the Desert National Park, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, and the Sariska Tiger Reserve.

Economy

Agriculture is the main bread and butter of the state. The crops that grow here are barley, wheat, oilseeds, sugarcane, and pulses. Tobacco and cotton are also grown here. Rajasthan produces the highest amount of edible oil and wool in India.

Industry

Rajasthan is known for its textiles and minerals. Zinc, copper, sandstone, and white marble are just some examples of the minerals and stones that come from this land. A lot of the textiles such as polyester fiber that is produced here are used for export purposes. Rajasthan is home to a lot of small scale industries which include ceramics and jewelry. Jaipur has also become a hotspot for large companies such as Genpact, MICO, P&G, and Coca Cola.

Transportation

Rajasthan is connected to the rest of the country by air, road and rail. The airports in this state are located in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. These airports connect Rajasthan to cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. Rajasthan can be accessed by road via National Highway 8 which runs from Delhi to Mumbai and is part of the so-called Golden Quadrilateral.
