Considered the largest agglomeration in the world, Delhi NCR (National Capital Region) is comprised of the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana as well as the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The area covers approximately 33,578 sq. km and is home to over 17 million people. Delhi NCR was developed to compensate for the over population as well as the demand of increased industrialization in Delhi and New Delhi. The cities of Delhi NCR include Delhi, New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.
- Delhi
The Indira Gandhi International Airport connects this city to other major cities across India. There is also a sophisticated bus system in the Delhi NCR, as well as a modern metro rail system.
- Gurgaon
Gurgaon is considered the most modern part of the Delhi NCR as some of the largest technical companies have offices here. Popular industries in this region include garment and automobile manufacturing, real estate, and pharmaceuticals. Genpact, Hero Honda and Maruti Suzuki have large bases at Gurgaon. This location is also considered one of India’s largest offshoring and outsourcing hubs. Gurgaon is in the state of Haryana and is located south of New Delhi on the Jaipur Highway, NH-8.
- Noida
Some of the largest international companies call the city of Noida home. These include Adobe Systems, Fiserv, ATC Labs, GlobalLogic, EXL, and Interra. Many of these companies chose to establish here due to its close proximity to Delhi and the major airport. Noida, known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, just across the river Yamuna, to the east of Delhi.
- Faridabad
Faridabad is a favored city for IT companies, industries, and politics. It is located in the state of Haryana. Real estate development is experiencing a large boom in this city. Faridabad is also city of choice for large manufacturers such as Yamaha Motors and Whirlpool.
- Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad has seen the emergence of malls, golf courses, and large residential neighborhoods.
Owing to the improved infrastructure between Delhi and the surrounding states, workers have now found it much easier to move out of the overpopulated city to the surrounding area.
