The capital of Chhattisgarh is Raipur. Chhattisgarh is 51,000 square miles big and has a population of 20,833,803 according to the 2001 census.  Chhattisgarh has a sub humid climate, cool winters and hot, dry summers. Chhattisgarh is bordered by Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.  Chhattisgarh came into being in November 2000 by being carved out of Madhya Pradesh, becoming the 26th state of India.

Economy

Because of its location in the center of India, it has many economic advantages. The Bhilai Steel Plant and National Mineral Development Corporation are located in Chattisgarh, there are also cement plants, (ACC, Gujarat Ambuja, Grasim, and CCI), chemical plants, plastic and fabrication units. In agriculture, rice, maize, pulses, groundnut, niger , kodo-kutki, soybean, and wheat are important crops.

Transportation

Chhattisgarh has of 21000 miles of road in the state, national highways making about 1,400 miles of road. The railways in Raiput, Raigarh, Korba, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon are important stations.

Tourism

Chhattisgarh is full of ancient ruins, temples, and wildlife. Chitrakote Falls and Tirathgarh Falls are notable for the grand waterfalls. The Kangerghati National Park, the Sita Bongara and Kutumbsar caves ,  and Kailash caves are great to see nature’s beauty. Some of the temples that can be visited are the Mahamaya temple, Bambleshwari Devi Temple, and Danteshwari Devi Temple.
